The temperature was warm and mild, the weather sunny as almost 80 Juniper Hill residents enjoyed the burgers, hot dogs, chicken, a zillion delicious side dishes, and most of all, each other’s company at the 2014 Juniper Hill Civic Association BBQ. People ate and danced, had their faces painted, played double dutch, met new neighbors and caught up with old friends. Clinton Pinnock won the first ever civic association raffle — a basket that included a fine estate wine donated by Corinda and Martin Hanlon and other assorted goodies. Peter and Hattie astonished all with their dancing prowess. Sue led a conga line weaving in and out of the tables. Once again, the neighbors all pitched in to help. Special thanks to Steve Baptiste, Andrea Baptiste, Sheryl Breuninger, and Mrs. Jameson for the use of their property and for donating tables, chairs, umbrellas and assistance in setting up and clean up, Steve for cooking all that delicious corn and BBQ chicken, Andrea for taking all those beautiful photos, new member Wen Lin Murray who brought her wonderful children to help with clean-up, Betty Anderson for helping store the food, Isaac and Claudia for the last minute donation of their grill, Arthur for organizing the kids games, Illayne and Arthur for working the membership table, Janelle for the face painting, and Richard Omess for his fabulous DJ services. And of course, to the JHCA executive committee — Sue, Illayne, Seth, Corinda, Sheryl, Arthur, and Peter for all the planning, organizing, shopping, etc. that went into making this year’s BBQ such a success.
